Tibetan Acupressure

Tibetan Acupressure-Compassionate Touch (TACT) is based on an ancient system of reflexive pressure-point healing, harkening back to the times of the Tibetan nomad. Many ancient civilizations understood that there are pressure points in the feet and in the hands that correspond to various organs and systems throughout the body. These reflex maps were used to treat the body and the mind as a holistic system, removing stress and restoring physical, emotional, and spiritual balance.

What makes this system so unique is the movement of a finger and a twist of the wrist, delivering a connection to the point, and allowing the body to deliver the correct electrical impulse. As a result, pressure is not required, and yet the point is stimulated causing a flow of energy through the meridian that is at a most suitable frequency for the receiver, as determined by the body, not the practitioner.

Recent studies using state-of-the-art fMRI, PET, SPECT, and EEG scans, shows that the pulsing of Acupressure points stimulates the amygdala and hippocampus; as well raising the level of the patient's beta-endorphins, molecules produced in the hypothalamus that aid in pain relief. As well, it affects a wide network of brain regions, including those involved with the processing of emotions, thoughts, and involuntary action.

The system is subtle, profound, and especially efficient at eliminating pain, and restoring a sense of well-being on all levels.

HOW DOES TIBETAN ACUPRESSURE WORK?

In Tibetan Acupressure, reflex pressure points in the feet, legs, hands, arms, back, neck, and head are stimulated with a special twisting motion of the hand and fingers enhancing the body's energy flow into the point. TACT sessions improve circulation, clear energetic blockages and eliminate stress from the body. The sessions activate the body's natural response systems to strengthen the immune system, repair damage and restore the body to a state of homeostasis. TACT is a simple and safe method to alleviate stress and chronic pain. Although TACT can be used for the most serious conditions, the system can also be applied for day to day wear and tear, as a proactive healing modality.

There are energy maps within the body made up of reflex points. The ones used in this system are the maps of the feet, legs, hands, arms, shoulders, back and head. By pressing particular reflex points in sequence, beginning with the feet and legs, moving up to hands and arms and finally head, neck, and spine, the corresponding system, or organ of the body is stimulated with a sudden flow of new and rejuvenated energy.

The TACT session duration is 45 minutes to one hour. If there are chronic or acute conditions, the practitioner may, at the conclusion the formal session, implement deeper point penetration to afflicted ares. Often clients have described feeling deep relaxation, both physical and mental relief from normal stressors and soothing energy flow through their bodies. Many clients find relief from their chronic conditions for many days, and with a series of sessions, conditions may recede and often clear completely. The feeling of peace and calm generated by a session may last several days.
